ABOUT ABOUT

Reisewitz discusses the development of his approach to photography and explains why he sees Brazil’s green rainforests as a “threatened utopia.” Born in São Paulo in 1967, Caio Reisewitz is one of Brazil’s best-known photographers. He is noted for his imposing, large-format color images of his country’s urban architecture and its threatened tropical forests, and for his inventive photo-collages. His work has been exhibited widely in Europe and Latin America. He represented Brazil at the 2005 Venice Biennale, and his photographs were featured in the recent exhibition América Latina 1960–2013 at the Fondation Cartier in Paris. Reisewitz lives and works in São Paulo.

Caio Reisewitz is on view at ICP May 16–September 7, 2014.

The ICP Lecture Series is made possible by Duggal Visual Solutions, The Bernard Lee Schwartz Foundation, Inc., and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
