Candidates for the ICP-Bard Program in Advanced Photographic Studies (MFA) class of 2020 are pleased to present the seventeenth edition of the program’s annual symposium, Art Work: Whose Labor, held at Abrons Arts Center, as part of the @Abrons Series.
A longstanding disparity pervades the art industry in terms of labor, wealth-distribution, and fair treatment. Recent efforts to organize labor at New York City arts institutions have highlighted the realities of these tensions. Whose labor is being used to generate the immense wealth circulating the art world? What does the future of labor look like for cultural workers? Art Work: Whose Labor seeks to explore who is missing from this conversation, what has prevented the understanding of art-work as labor for so long, and how we can better promote solidarity within the industry.
This is a free event, but please register in advance. Doors open at 6 PM.
